Who's behind the Million Penny Drive Project?
The project was initiated by a group of students studying at the University of Nottingham. The idea originated from one particular member originally from Africa who was very passionate about starting an HIV/AIDS charitable project. Alhamdulillah this idea developed and was taken to a national scale around 1 year ago and continues to be run by some of those who started it; although we are hoping to recruit new members so if interested, send us a message! |

Where does my ISOC send the money we've raised to?
After organising a fundraising event, the money raised will need to be sent to the MPD Finance Officer. Please send us a
cheque of the fundraised amount made payable to: 'UofNSU' to:
Abida Malik, Islamic Society, Students Union, Portland Building, University Park, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, NG7 2RD
This will then be paid into the MPD bank account; a sub-account of the University of Nottingham Islamic Society, before being sent to the charity organisations. |

My ISOC is very small and find it difficult to organise events, so how could we take part?
There are many different ways you can take part. Instead of organising events which need a lot of prior planning and resources, you can instead perhaps do a bucket collection around campus all you need is a couple of buckets and a few dedicated volunteers for maybe half a day. Alternatively you could do a sponsored silence or fast this does not require any additional materials as you would need only to convince some people to fast for the day and get sponsored for it. It's a good way of not only raising money, but spreading the message of charity and the need for public involvement for this cause to both Muslims and non-Muslims. See 'what can I do?' for more ideas. |

Our ISOC are unable to hold an event on World Aids Day on the 1st of December. Is there any other time we can fundraise?
Yes! Any time! Your event does not have to be on World Aids Day. Some universities are holding events later in the year, even during Islam Awareness Week when it occurs. So it can be at any time! |

I don't go to university; can I still take part in the MPD project?
Of course, without a doubt! We encourage people not only from universities to take part but also colleges, workplaces, community settings, etc. Anyone and everyone who would like to help those less fortunate then themselves. |

What sort of materials do you provide to help?
Last year we provided leaflets from the charities we were supporting in addition to T-Shirts and stickers. This year we're providing leaflets, ribbons and balloons. We also have a number of resources which can be downloaded from our website including a leaflet, posters and presentations. |

Why did MPD not support Islamic Relief last year?
Initially this was the plan but we were not made aware of the HIV/AIDS projects that Islamic Relief runs. Alhamdulillah this year we've been given information about their projects and do have the opportunity to support them bi'ithnillah. |
